Frequently Asked Questions
What are your hours?
Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm.
How do I request a quote?
You can use our business card form here. For all other quotes, click here. You can also email us if you prefer at info@fairwayprinting.com.
Please include a file if you have one, as well as any other relevant information — quantity, paper size and type, special finishes, when you’ll need the job finished by, etc.
When will I hear back about my quote?
We’ll get back to you by the end of the business day. If your request is urgent, give us a call at (212) 279-2939.
What’s the next step after accepting my quote?
If you’d like to see a printed sample, you can stop by our office and we’ll print your design on your preferred cardstock option. One we have your approval, we’ll proceed with the rest of your order.
Please note that samples may not be available, depending on the type and complexity of your job.
What’s your turnaround time?
It depends on the job. We’re able to offer same-day printing for many of our jobs; others take more time. Please call to inquire.
We can same-day printing for business cards on 130lb. uncoated and 120lb. coated paper. Other paper options and special finishes typically take 5-10 business days.
Do you have a minimum order requirement?
Our minimum order for business cards is 250, composite cards and post cards are 100.
I have multiple people in my company who need business cards. Can I split my order using different names?
Yes. It is an additional $10 per name. So, for example, if you are splitting an order of 250 single-sided business cards between two people, the total cost will be $90 ($80 + $10).
Can I see a sample of my order?
Yes, for standard business cards, headshots, comp cards and more, we’re happy to show you a printed sample of your order. Certain jobs we will not have samples for, depending on its size and complexity.
Can I see some paper samples?
Absolutely. Stop by during our office hours.
Can you help me set up my business card?
Yes, we’re happy to help you with your design. Our design fee for standard business cards is $20.
What file types do you accept?
PDFs are great. A native, editable file format — such as .psd or .ai — is helpful, too. We also accept .jpeg and .tiff.
To learn more about different file types, and which may work best for your particular project, check out our blog post here.
What else do you need to know before I send you my file?
For best results, you should follow these steps when setting up your design:
- Make sure to include a bleed.
- Set your resolution to 300DPI.
- Work in CMYK color mode.
- Make sure that your canvas' dimensions are not too small for the print job. A file for a poster print, for example, should not be 2"x5".
How should I set up my bleed?
Set your bleed at 1/8 - 1/4 inch. (Learn more here.)
Why does the color on my printed sample look different than it did on screen?
Monitors display color using the RGB color model, while printers use CMYK. (Learn more here.) Colors typically appear brighter on your screen than they do when printed.
What if I am very picky about color?
Stop by our office so we can print you a sample.
Why does my image look blurry?
If the resolution or image size in the file you send us is too small, the printed product will be blurry. We cannot increase a file’s size without losing quality, so it’s important that your original file is high-resolution.
How can I get comp cards made?
If you’d like us to lay out your card for you, just email us your images. We typically use five images — one on the front, four on the back. Include your name as it should appear on the card, as well as your stats: height, bust, waist, hips, dress size, shoe size, hair color, eye color.
We’ll put together a card for you and send you the file to approve. We’re also happy to show you a printed sample.
